Below are the submitted Bios for the Nominees of the 2023 Zone Director Election in alphabetical order by Zone.
Island, Stacy Daneluk:
For those of you that don’t know me my name is Stacy and I am running for the position of Island Zone Director. Professionally I manage a $135 million large desk of clients and I am not afraid of hard work, or to be vocal and stand up for the island to ensure that I am representing you to the best of my ability and ensuring the job gets done. My profession has taught me to be efficient, effective and to work with all different types of individuals.
I have been very active in IPSC since becoming a member in 2012 and have attended qualifiers in almost every club across the Province during that time period. I think as your zone director it is imperative and a must to be travelling in and out of our Province in order to know the members, the clubs and issues that may or may not arise while attending various matches. I feel that in order to represent properly you need to be present at matches to see how things are being run and how things can be improved upon. I have attended many Provincial and National championships in the recent years across the country and have already attended 17 of our local qualifiers this year, with having just recently returned from our National Championship in Winnipeg and our Provincial Championships coming up shortly. This has provided me with a broad understanding as to how other Provinces and clubs run things which allows me to provide a depth of knowledge and understanding as to improvements that can be made, while offering a fresh perspective in a sport that has evolved and changed significantly over the past 10 years. I have assisted in running Black Badge Courses and have been an RO for over 10 years now. I would like to continue to grow our sport in an ever-changing environment, with my first goal of having more RO/CRO courses for those that are interested. I also want to work with my other zone directors to come up with a more efficient way of calculating our classifications and scores that accurately represent our ability and standing. I have seen some gaps that can be improved upon in the past and want to ensure there is open communication and more transparency, I am aware of what needs to be done in order to be effective in the position.
I thank you for your consideration and look forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming Provincial Championship!

Island, Jerry Wong:
First I would like to thank the individuals that nominated me for the Island Zone Director position, the Seconder, and the members that will give me the opportunity to represent you on Vancouver Island.
I have been an active member of IPSC BC for over 30 years. Took my Black Badge in 1993 and have never looked back. During those 30 years I have:
- Earned my RO, CRO,RM and TCI credentials
- Served in the position of Membership Coordinator, Training Course Coordinator and a number of times as the Island Zone Director
- Taught an average of 4 – 5 Black Badge Course since becoming a TCI in 1996
- Helped with the revision of the National Training Program (aka Black Badge)
- Helped with the training of RO’s and mentoring of range officials
I feel that I have a strong understanding of IPSC BC with the years being an active member contributing when and where I can to help foster and make our organization grow. If successful being elected as the Island Zone Director I will continue to help make our organization grow and improve the communication to our members.

Metro Vancouver, Michael Palacz:
Firearms have been a part of my life for a long time, but IPSC truly ignited my passion for them. I have been a member of IPSC BC since 2016. I became a Range Officer in 2018, and I am currently in the process of completing my Chief Range Officer qualification. I have also competed extensively in the United States and hold Range Officer status in USPSA. I feel that my international experience has broadened my knowledge and perspective of the sport as a whole.
Outside of the sport I have worked for many years as a lawyer, mainly as in-house counsel. I also run a small business, which really is more of a fun hobby, repairing and adjusting magnetic compasses aboard sea-going vessels.
I have decided to run for this position mainly because I would like to contribute more to our organization and the sport we all are very passionate about. I have spoken to many of you already and I have tried to find out what concerns you have as far as how our organization is being currently run. More importantly, what changes and/or improvements you would like to see in the near future.
I have heard you loud and clear and I will do my best to help implement these changes should you choose to elect me as your representative on the Board of Directors.

Metro Vancouver, Rebecca Wortman:
For those of you who don’t know me I am Rebecca Wortman, your current Zone Director and I have really enjoyed getting to know this side of our sport and helping other shooters out and our sport as much as possible.
A little bit about my IPSC background; I’ve been an active member since 2017 competing in national and provincial championships as well as local qualifiers enjoying all the different aspects of the shooting community all over our province. During that time I have become an R.O, now a recent C.R.O., officiating at three Provincials and two Nationals, stats expert ;), and have recently gotten into match directing at POCO with three under my belt, eager to put on more.
This sport has become such a large portion of my life and I love giving back in the ways I’ve been able to, which I hope to continue to do on the board.
If reelected to the board these are some of the things I would like to work on:
- work on creating a social media platform to help bring our sport into the limelight and showcase our abilities and responsibility with firearms
- continue to work with the other board members to figure out a better way for our classification system making it easier and fair for all our divisions to stay competitive.
- work on online CRO/RO course to make it more accessible to people all over the province
- and continue to be a voice for the metro van area
Thank you for your time and hopefully your vote if you feel I’m the right person for the job. I can’t wait for provincials and the 2024 season, hope to see you all out there!
