RESOLUTION – Amendment to IPSC BC Policies & Procedures (2022)
This is an ordinary resolution and is subject to an ordinary voting threshold.
Insert a new point between Section 12(iv) and 12(v):
Every L3 match is counted twice for the purpose of classification/team standing/season ranking.
Mover Comment: This includes Provincials and any other L3 held in the province. Alberta also makes an adjustment for L3s. This has the added benefit of making the Provincials more important in classification. As the rules currently stand, a Master shooter can win every match they shoot, including Provincials, without being bumped to GM if they aren’t able to shoot against a GM in close enough to Provincials because the 100% score will be removed as being too high. I also think that we need to be elevating the importance of L3 matches to better align with the rest of the sport. A multi day match is a very different animal than a six stage match shot over half a day.
Replace Section 11(i)a and 11(i)b with:
a) 15% for each of a competitor’s best three current season Qualifiers (for a total of 45%), plus
b) 55% of the score at the Provincials.
Mover Comment: The Provincials is already overwhelmingly important for the purposes of team selection so even as it is now, you can’t make the team without shooting the provincials. Increasing the weight of Provincials will help to balance the regional differences in classifications. Currently, there are cases where people are classified as M or GM but they perform well below that classification at Provincials.
