IPSC BC is excited to announce the appointment of Dawne Deeley as our new Public Relations Coordinator. A long-standing member of IPSC, Dawne’s passion for and involvement in the sport extend well beyond just competition. We look forward to collaborating with Dawne in this new role and exploring opportunities to thoughtfully engage with the public.
The position will focus on boosting the sport’s visibility through effective communication and community engagement. Dawne’s role will involve building relationships with government officials, media, and the general public, while also providing training and support to the membership. She will help equip members to foster meaningful dialogue both within and beyond the community.
Dawne has had a diverse and impressive career. She founded and directed an organization that challenged multiple provincial dog bans, working closely with attorneys, media, and politicians. Their efforts included significant research, public communications, and lobbying for alternative legislation. She received Finland’s highest civilian honor and multiple awards in journalism and photography. Additionally, she served as a legislative liaison for the CKC and published an international dog magazine. With over 20 years of experience as an international photojournalist, they represented Canada in various sports and competitive events, including road cycling, bodybuilding, and international canine championships. She has also held leadership roles in national dog breed associations and charitable foundations, and is a life member of Safari Club International.
